Gifts of Stock and Securities

You can reap substantial tax benefits by giving appreciated securities (stocks, bonds and mutual funds).  When you make a gift of securities, you are entitled to claim a charitable deduction for the current fair market value of your securities, and you do not pay the capital gains tax that would accompany a sale of stock.

Ask your broker to transfer the securities you wish to donate to the ACLU's account (# 30A121398) at T. Rowe Price (DTC# 0443).

When you make a gift of securities, please contact Susan Morseth at the ACLU of Maryland and inform him so that we can record your gift, provide a tax receipt, and properly thank you.  The value for which you will be credited is the value of your stock on the day you instruct your broker to make the gift.

If you have questions or would like to discuss a gift of securities, (or for instructions on wire transfer or delivery of stock certificates) Susan Morseth would be happy to talk to you or your broker.
