Natalia Bacchus lives in Baltimore City and works at the Baltimore Teachers Union. Natalia was a Maryland public school teacher from 2003-2018. She worked in Baltimore City schools from 2013-2018 and in Montgomery County schools for 9 years prior. Natalia taught ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and was a classroom teacher in 1st and 3rd grades. She achieved National Board Certification in 2011. In Baltimore City Public Schools, Natalia taught ESOL to refugees, served as the union Building Rep, created a Union Chapter Committee, and worked at Refugee Youth Project. She was also a Fellow at Teachers' Democracy Project, studying issues such as teacher evaluation, social justice curriculum, teacher unions, and restorative practices. Natalia co-founded BMORE (Baltimore Movement of Rank-and-File Educators), a social justice caucus of the teachers union, in 2015 with other activist educators organizing to make grassroots changes in education and the union.
