TOWSON, MD — A coalition of civic organizations, voting rights advocates, and concerned constituents will host a press conference at 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Patriots Plaza, ahead of the Baltimore County Redistricting Commission’s next public meeting. The coalition is calling on the Commission to adopt a legally compliant and community-driven “3-1-5” map that ensures fair representation for Black and Brown residents across the county.
“Baltimore County is now nearly 50% people of color, and this new nine-district structure offers a once-in-a-generation chance to get it right,” said Sharonda Dillard-Huffman. “We are united in urging the Commission to reject politically motivated gerrymandering and support a map that reflects the true diversity of our county.”
Advocates will speak to the importance of creating three majority-Black districts and one additional district with a majority of minority residents. The Redistricting Commission meets at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers.
