Bio

Danielle Tyler is the Director of Strategic Communications at the ACLU of Maryland. With over 14 years of experience in nonprofit, corporate, and education sectors, Danielle has led integrated communications strategies that elevate mission-driven work and deepen stakeholder engagement.

Prior to joining the ACLU, she held senior communications roles at organizations such as PowerSchool, Spark the Journey, and the National Association of Black Accountants. Her expertise includes executive messaging, internal communications, brand storytelling, and digital strategy. Danielle is deeply committed to using communications as a force for equity, justice, and systemic change. She holds a Master’s in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University. Outside of work, Danielle is a proud mom to a curious toddler who keeps her on her toes. She enjoys exploring new restaurants and getting lost in a good book.

What Trump’s Immigration Policies Mean for Families Across the DMV

Since the start of President Trump’s second term, immigrant communities across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia have been living with an immigration agenda once again defined by fear, intimidation, and aggressive federal enforcement. While these policies are often most visible in Washington, D.C., their consequences do not stop at the District line. In the DMV, where daily life crosses jurisdictional boundaries, immigration enforcement functions as a regional force, and so must the response.
