- What is the ACLU of Maryland doing?

- Read the second ACLU letter to Mayor Stepahanie Rawlings-Blake
The following can be attributed to Deborah Jeon, Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland:
"As part of the chorus demanding, since Thursday, an end to the curfew in Baltimore, we at the ACLU of Maryland celebrate Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's decision this morning to rescind the order. But the sense of siege will persist as long as Governor Hogan leaves military forces in the City - we urge him to remove them now.
As the city's official state of emergency lifts, we must all remain focused on the state of emergency in poor and minority communities in Baltimore and elsewhere in this country, and on the fundamental and urgent issues of justice and equality. That focus should be met with discussion, and action, by our elected officials. When the cameras go away, these problems will remain unless local, state, and national officials confront, acknowledge, and address them. That is the only path forward from the pain, fear, and despair that this week has brought to the world's attention."
